If you are interested in cholesterol, Dr. Peter Attia has posted a number of very long, very detailed posts explaining what cholesterol is, how it is measured and what you should pay attention to. Warning -- the posts are heavy going. However, you will be rewarded with a much better understanding of this incredibly complex topic if you manage to plow through to the end of the posts. There are a number of other very interesting posts on Dr. Attia's blog, once you're done with the cholesterol posts.
Part I - What is cholesterol? What is the relationship between the cholesterol we eat and the cholesterol in our body? Is cholesterol bad?
Part II - How does cholesterol move around our body?
Part III - How do we measure cholesterol?
Part IV - How does cholesterol actually cause problems?
Part V - Does the size of an LDL particle matter?
Part VI - Why is it necessary to measure LDL-P, instead of just LDL-C?
Part VII - Does "HDL" matter after all?
