Pulled Pork (slow cooker version)

Ingredients:

  • 2 onions, finely chopped

  • 6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp cracked black peppercorns

  • 1/2 cup Heinz chili sauce

  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp liquid smoke

  • 1 boneless pork shoulder trimmed of fat (about 3 pounds)

Method:

  1. Saute the onions in a little oil over medium heat until soft and lightly browned

  2. Add garlic, chile powder and pepper and continue cooking for 1 minute

  3. Add chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke

  4. Stir and bring to a boil; simmer to reduce some of the liquid

  5. Place pork in slow cooker and pour sauce over meat

  6. Cook on low for 12 hours

  7. Transfer pork to a cutting board and pull the meat apart in shreds with two forks

  8. Return meat to sauce and stir

  9. Serve meat on warm buns, or on its own, and enjoy!
