| Stuffing (dressing) for Turkey
Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons of butter
- 2 large onions, diced
- 8 stalks of celery, diced
- 2 cups mushrooms, chopped
- 5 large fresh sage leaves, chopped, or 1 tablespoon
of crushed dried sage
- 3 cups chicken stock
- 1 loaf of stale white bread, or bread crumbs
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 bunch parsley, chopped
- 1 cup pecans, toasted and chopped
- 1 cup dried cherries
Method:
- Melt butter in a large skillet. Add onions, celery
and mushrooms, and cook over medium heat until onions are translucent.
- Add sage, stir to combine, and cook another 3 or 4
minutes.
- Add 1/2 cup stock and stir well. Cook for another 5
minutes.
- Add onion mixture to bread in a large bowl.
- Add all other remaining ingredients and stir well.
- Add additional stock if the dressing seems too dry.
I prefer not to cook my turkey with the stuffing, but you could use
this to stuff a turkey. This makes enough stuffing for about six to
eight people, but you could easily double the recipe.
