The Grouse Grind - Second Quarter

The trail is not hard to follow, but just in case there are numerous trail markers on trees.
Some parts of the trail are quite eroded and you'll have to pick your path carefully. Please stay on the trail, though, as going off the trail is will cause unnecessary erosion and can be dangerous to those below you, if you send rocks falling on the trail.
One of the longer straight stretches. The hillside is getting a bit steeper here.
Take small steps. It takes a lot more power to take big steps and you will tire much faster.
Looking back down the trail.
If you turn around once in a while you will start to get some views of the city and Capilano Reservoir.
If you have a really sharp eye you can see elevation markers in 50 metre increments. At 700 metres you are just short of half way.
I consider this point to be the 'true' half way point. It's a big switchback to the right offering a nice view through the trees of Capilano Reservoir. You will hit the 1/2 Mark sign in about two or three minutes.
Well done! You're at the 1/2 Mark sign.
There are a couple of places to sit and rest beside the 1/2 Mark sign.
